Texas voters just approved major property tax relief bill - let’s get into it:

What changed for Texas homeowners:

  • Homestead exemption for school taxes increased

    • Increase from $100,000 → $140,000 of a home’s value now exempt from school district property taxes.

  • Extra relief for seniors and disabled homeowners

    • A separate voter-approved measure boosts tax cuts for:

      • Homeowners 65+

      • Homeowners with disabilities

    • These groups will see larger reductions than standard homeowners.

Why it matters to you

  • Lowers annual carrying costs of homeownership (especially on mid-priced homes)

How Texas stacks up

  • This tax relief plan is similar to states like Iowa, Florida and Georgia - cutting property taxes to offset rising home values

  • Texas has committed ~$51B over the next 2 years to backfill lost revenue from the approved cuts

🤠 WHAT’S HAPPENING AROUND TOWN

Downtown Lockhart is getting ready for a refresh

City leaders are planning a major reconfiguration to capitalize on Austin’s growth.

Big upcoming projects:

  • Juniper Springs by Perry Homes

    • 400 acre master plan community

    • ~1,400 homes

  • Pura Vida

    • $1.5B

    • 211 acre master plan community

    • Possible surf park? (I don’t get this and this image reminds me of Hunger games)

Lockhart wants to maintain their BBQ/antique/art scene vibe and shift from a day trip spot to a live-work-play hub.

Will obviously keep you updated on the surf park.

🤤 HOUSE WORTH DROOLING OVER
